Toy of the week – Ikea Easel

Ikea Children's Easel

I’m not usually a fan of Ikea. If I ever to go to a store then I usually end up regretting it, coming home feeling frazzled with pointless purchases like Tea Light Holders (like I don’t have enough already). However they do stock some excellent children’s products, such as the Wooden Easel from Ikea. It’s a real bargain at only £14.99 (I’ve seen similar ones for sale for £50). My daughter got it for her 2nd birthday (although it does say on Ikea website not suitable for children under 3 due to small parts) and she loves it. It’s quite big, but sturdy and the fact she can draw on the blackboard, white board or even paint, as you can get a paper holder, means she’s kept busy for quite a while – all in all a brilliant birthday or Christmas present idea. I think it’s easy to put up too (will  have to speak to my husband as that’s his domain :).

Length: 43 cm, Width: 62 cm, Height: 118 cm

The paper roll holder is £6.99, and paper is £2.99 a roll. They also do cheap pens, paint and brushes such as whiteboard pens, £1.99 for 7.

Hi Callie, nice to meet you yesterday. Good luck going to Ikea, I got my M-in-law to go!

I must admit that I have never really bothered with Ikea much and I didn’t know that they sold products for kids and £14.99 is a really good price. I have been looking online for some Christmas ideas for my kids and found some interesting buggies called wheely bugs. I think they look a lot of fun and I am sure that my kids will love them. Having seen this blog though, I think I will take a trip to my local Ikea and see what other Christmas ideas I can get from there. Thanks for the heads-up!

Hi, we bought a wheely bug for my daughter when she was one. We got a bee one (small). Although they look great, she never really took to it as she kept slipping off. I think the larger ones are better, possibly when they are older. She always preferred the ride-ons you could actually sit on without having to balance.

The chalkboard is very slick and chalk hardly sticks to it, but it’s still a deal.
