Listography – Things I’d like to change about myself

This week’s Listography from Katetakes5 is Things I’d change about myself (if only!).

Be more organised

I am always forgetting things in my schedule. I have no idea what day or date it is, possibly due to being a SAHM. I keeping missing (or nearly missing) appointments, lunch dates with friends, my 3 year old’s ballet or swimming lesson. I even put things in my diary, but forget to look at it. Okay I have an excuse at the moment, I have a 12 week old, but still!

Be happy with what I have

I always want more, I’m never happy with what I’ve got. I want a better life, a bigger car, a different challenge. I see achievement as a fundamental measure of success, and as such, can never sit still and enjoy what I have for any length of time. I feel I have to keep moving, striving and achieving. It’s nothing short of exhausting. It would be so nice just to sit back, relax and enjoy what I have here and now.

Be less of a worrier

I’m a born worrier. It’s a bloody horrible, pointless trait. The amount of time I’ve wasted on worrying is ridiculous, even though I know it achieves nothing and just gives you grey hairs and wrinkles. I’ve definitely got worse, the older I have got too. I look at people who take everything in their stride – like my husband – with envy. If only I could turn that worry button off permanently, I’d be so much more relaxed.

Be more positive

I have a tendency to expect the worst to happen. I guess this makes me the glass half empty-type. If I find a lump, I think I’ve got cancer; if I do an exam I think I’ve done badly, and so on. The theory behind this somewhat warped logic is that if you expect the worst, then you are prepared for it and won’t be disappointed. It’s silly.

Grow some balls!

I am a pretty confident person, but lack self-confidence and worry too much what other people think. I want people to like me and like what I do, so I tend to sit on the fence and don’t do anything to offend anyone. I’d like to be able to say f*ck everyone, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

If you grow some balls, can you send me the recipe? I could do with some myself :)

Wow your 2nd point is so me! I want a bigger house etc but worse still I compare what I have to my friends and get down about it -such a waste of energy! And no.5 is bang on too. These lists are so interesting x

I love reading what everyone else puts down.

Gosh – some of these sounded just like me! I wonder how we’d have done if we’d had to write 5 things I love about myself? Would anyone have got to number 5?

I was thinking about that – Probably not.

You sound pretty normal to me, but can totally relate to forgetting appointments and forgetting to even look at where I’ve written them down. If you figure out how to change that, let me know!

It definitely relates to how much sleep I get.

Such a true list – I fail at all of those too. Scary this weeks listography!
