Having a party at the Hard Rock Hotel

by admin on April 15, 2012

It was party time at the Hard Rock Hotel on Sentosa last weekend. It was their first ever pool-side liquid buffet (think free flow beer and cocktails) for the launch of the first non-casino loyalty programme in Singapore. It was also the first time I’d been to the hotel. It was a wet evening so not the best weather for a pool party, but even the rain is warm in Singapore. The dress code was Beach Glam. I opted for a maxi-dress, the kind you’d wear on the beach in the evening. I got it wrong, I was overdressed. I only wish we’d brought our swimming things, instead we had to make do with dipping our toes in the sand swimming pool.

I took Mr C with me  for company and we were given one of their fabulous wooden cabanas which was right by the pool area to chill out in, with enough food and drink to feed all our friends (if they had been there).

DJ Angie Vu Ha (apparently known as Asia’s sexiest DJ) was on the decks. She’d been due to play at the cancelled Escape Chapel event at Chijmes (see my last post!). The guys were drooling. Singaporeans are quite shy, so the outdoor dance floor remained mostly empty, although the promotions team put in a valiant effort. I did attempt to throw some shapes, but as my thirties draw rapidly to an end I spent the night wondering if my dancing days are over. As one of the very few guests dancing, I nearly found myself in a dance-off competition, but managed to avoid it by escaping down the steps of the pool being chased by the promotions crew. I was saved from total embarrassment as my opponent was a young and gorgeous bikini-clad Russian.

Great party! Thanks to RWS for inviting me.

RWS Invites card holders get all sort of perks and benefits, as well as being able to attend some more great and exclusive events, see here.
