21stCM loves: Magna-Tiles for kids

by admin on November 28, 2014

I first came across Magna-Tiles at a friend’s house. Both my kids made straight for these magnetic tiles as soon as they spotted them and spent almost an hour playing with them. Anything that keeps their attention for that long that doesn’t involve a screen gets a big thumbs up from me.

These magnetic tiles teach spatial relationships, math, logic, and problem-solving through creative building.

There are all sorts of different sets. The 100-piece set is SGD $199 at Playhao in Forum. There is also a 48-piece set that comes with wheels so you can build cars.

You can also get them on Amazon UK Magna-Tiles Translucent Colors 100 pieces" target="_blank">here.

The tiles have universal appeal and will make a great Christmas gift for kids. (This is what mine will be getting this year.)

Magna-Tiles are expensive (in the UK and US too) but are also apparently indestructible so worth investing in.

Similar brands such as Magformers and Playmags are also available.
