21st Century Mummy, the expat blogger – The lowdown
The past: 21st Century Mummy was founded when I lived in London. It was meant to be a diary to record my memories of my life with my children from my very first pregnancy. I started off blogging anonymously but decided to go public. I still mourn the loss of my anonymity. From the beginning I decided to keep my family out of it, to protect them, and that has never changed. You’ll rarely see pictures of any of us and I never to any family members by their real names.
The present: In January 2011, my life-long dream to be an expat became a reality. I left the gloom and doom of London to start a new life in Singapore with my husband and 3 year old. I was 5 months pregnant and super-excited. The first few months were crazy and a very steep learning curve – we definitely found out how not to relocate. You can read all about my expat story on Telegraph.co.uk and on Vegemitevix’s blog. Because of this huge change, 21st Century Mummy’s direction changed. The focus is now on expat life in Singapore and our travels.
The future: 21st Century Mummy continues to grow and evolve. The future looks rosy.
Accolades: 21st Century Mummy recently won a bronze award in the Expats Blog Awards.
21st Century Mummy does accept advertising and sponsored posts, so please get in touch about rates if you are interested.
Who is the person behind this blog?
I am a writer, a mother, a wife and a 40-something female driven by my desire to travel, to write and by my love for my children. As well as having travelled all over the globe, I have lived in Paris, Sydney, London and now Singapore. I have done everything from backpacking around the world on a shoe-string to staying in 6-star luxury with (and without) my children. I wish I’d started expat life a long time ago. Oh, and I love a glass of white wine, especially Sancerre.
As well as having a successful career as a freelance writer, I am a social media addict. I am considered one of the most influential expats on Twitter and was featured on The Telegraph’s top 20 list of expats to follow on Twitter for 2013. You’ll find me tweeting at www.twitter.com/mummytweets. Please have a look at the In Print tab to find out a bit more about me and where you can find my work.
