Not only is today the first day of spring (if you live in the UK that is), it is the 45th anniversary of what must be one of the world’s most famous kids’ books, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I wanted to acknowledge it on this blog as it has to be my all time favourite kids’ book. I just love it. I have no idea how many hundreds (or possibly thousands) of times I have read this book, first to my younger brothers, then to my eldest daughter and now to my second. I still don’t get tired of the story. Is there anyone who hasn’t read this book to their kids?

I’d like to thank the author Eric Carle for sharing his wonderful book with the world.

You Choose!
The latest BMB carnival is being hosted by Zoe at Playing by the book. I don’t normally do book reviews, but this book really is worth telling people about.
My 3 year old was given You Choose in a book pack last time I took her to see the health visitor. Usually I think the free books you get are pretty rubbish. This one, however, is brilliant, and is my daughter’s favourite bed time book. It’s cleverly illustrated, interactive and let’s a child’s imagination run wild. [click to continue…]
